Honoring Those Who Shine: Celebrating Murdock’s 2025–2026 Employees of the Year

There are people in every school who make the days smoother, brighter and more meaningful, not because they have to, but because that’s who they are.

This year, Murdock Elementary had the joy of celebrating two of those people at our “Honoring Those Who Shine” brunch: Teacher of the Year Adrianna Ruggiero (4th Grade) and Classified Employee of the Year Vincent Martin (Head Custodian).

Hosted at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, the brunch brought together 150+ guests—staff, families, and supporters—who showed up with one shared mission: to recognize the everyday excellence that shapes our school community.

Congratulations to Adrianna Ruggiero, Teacher of the Year

As a 4th grade teacher, Adrianna Ruggiero brings learning to life with heart, humor and creativity. Whether she’s building confidence in students, making lessons engaging, or creating a classroom culture where kids feel seen and supported, she shines in the way students remember long after the school year ends. In the words of those who know her best, Adrianna shines because she is funny, dedicated, adventurous, creative and caring, and it shows in everything she does.

Congratulations to Vincent Martin, Classified Employee of the Year

Schools run on teamwork, and the people who keep the building safe, welcoming, and ready for learning deserve major applause. Vincent Martin, Murdock’s Head Custodian, is exactly that kind of person: steady, kind and quietly essential. Vincent shines because he is kind, funny, hard-working, helpful and diligent. From early mornings to end-of-day resets (and everything in between), he helps ensure Murdock is a place where students and staff can thrive.

A celebration made possible by our community

This brunch didn’t happen by magic, although the room certainly looked magical. A heartfelt thank-you goes to PTA Co-President Amber Hubrich and VP of Family Engagement Elizabeth McCorkle, who were instrumental in bringing the event to life. Elizabeth was the creative brain behind the decorations and beautiful atmosphere that made the celebration feel extra special. And in an act of true community spirit, Amber’s father printed the program pro bono, helping us honor our winners with a polished, professional touch.

We’re grateful to everyone who attended, supported, and helped celebrate these two incredible members of the Murdock family.

Thank you for helping Murdock shine

To Adrianna and Vincent: thank you for everything you do, seen and unseen, to make Murdock a place where students feel encouraged, supported and proud to belong. We’re lucky to celebrate you.
