Board of Director Role Descriptions

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is the PTA’s elected officer team — the group responsible for coordinating day-to-day leadership and keeping the PTA running smoothly between meetings. In Georgia PTA local-unit bylaws, the Executive Committee is made up of the elected officers, and the parliamentarian, who is appointed.

The Board of Directors is the broader leadership group that manages the affairs of the PTA in the intervals between general membership meetings, advancing PTA's mission to support students, staff and families. The Board as including elected officers, standing committee chairs, the principal (or the principal’s representative), and the parliamentarian.

Meetings & updates
All executive committee members are required to attend Executive Committee meetings, in addition to Board of Directors meetings, and provide updates each month. Board members also join general PTA meetings and assist on-site at PTA events as needed.
