Legislation & Advocacy
PTA was born with a spirit for advocacy — families and educators coming together to speak up for kids.
That same idea still powers our work today: helping ensure every child has the support, resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
Make your voice heard. Advocacy doesn’t have to be intimidating (or time-consuming). Small actions add up fast.
Ways to get involved
- Georgia PTA Day at the Capitol | Friday, February 6, 2026 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. Join Georgia PTA advocates, including Rep. Lydia Glaize, to raise our voices for Georgia’s students and schools. Learn what’s happening this session and show support for public education, through nonpartisan, kid-focused advocacy. Tip: Wear red! Sign up via Jotform >
- Watch or attend Cobb County Board of Education meetings. This is a great way to stay informed on decisions that impact our schools.
- Know who represents you at the local, state and federal levels and save their contact info for when an issue matters to your family.
- Use National PTA advocacy resources to learn what’s happening and how to engage.
- Join our Legislation & Advocacy efforts, even if you can only help occasionally. Interested? Email our co-presidents.

Nonpartisan note
To maintain nonprofit status under federal rules, Georgia PTA (and all local units under its umbrella) is nonpartisan. We focus on informing and engaging our community and supporting policy/legislation that aligns with PTA’s adopted positions—without endorsing parties or candidates.
